We bought two old houses next to each other, each with separate utilities. They had not been lived in for over 15 years, and were unsafe and totally dilapidated. Our aim was to make one modern house from the two houses have some outside space with a pool with BBQ area. It was our intention to eventually move to this house, so we wanted to make sure that we made all of the right decisions, but it needed to be within a certain budget.
Construcciones Blanes were recommended to us and we met with Jesus and Alberto (who spoke English) and discussed what we wanted. They created plans based on our discussions to end up with one modern house with 3 bedrooms, one set of utilities, a modern kitchen and bathroom and a swimming pool. They created the plans, arranged for all the permissions, agreed the budget (which was very reasonable) and started to do the work, there was a LOT of work needed to be done
The entire work was completed in less than 6 months on this massive renovation of two houses. They were able to progress with the work as and when we had the funds to move things forward. Construcciones Blanes kept us up to date whilst we were back in the UK by sending emails and photos. They knocked down one house to make the pool and courtyard, demolished walls, replaced the ceilings with much higher ceilings to make the house light and airy. Damp proofing was put in, an extension added, bathrooms were moved and utility rooms created and hot and cold air conditioning was installed. They replaced the floors, tiled and fitted the bathrooms, fitted skirting board, plastered the whole house, fitted the new doors windows and also raised the level of the external garden walls to give privacy. They even queried some of my instructions explaining why they thought the layout should not be that way, and they were right! – I am so glad they advised me on the right thing to do.
Construcciones Blanes was able to adapt to any changes we wanted made as the project progressed, including the addition of bespoke wardrobes amongst other things! They even helped us furnish the house with lights and other things that we had delivered from the UK as we had no tools. Nothing was too much trouble, – they changed anything that we wanted at any time, and everything was done very professionally and quickly with no hassle at a very reasonable price. What they have created is a light modern house with a courtyard and swimming pool exactly as we wanted. We don’t live in Spain, so Jesus even arranges for the house to be cleaned and maintained while we are away!
